Dr. Meri Brandt

Dr. Brandt was born in Illinois, raised in Arizona, and a resident of Oregon since 2016, when she joined Willakenzie Animal Clinic. Dr. Brandt received her degree in Biology from Arizona State University. She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year of veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. After graduation from veterinary school in 2007, Dr. Brandt returned to Arizona to practice.

Drawn to the climate of the Pacific Northwest, she joined the team at Willakenzie Animal Clinic in 2016. She lives in Eugene with her husband and young children. Their dogs Elwood – a bluetick coonhound, and Walter- an adorable terrier mix, are most content guarding the house while basking in the sunshine. Dr. Brandt enjoys all aspects of general practice from puppies and kittens, soft tissue surgery, dental care, dermatology, and geriatric medicine. She most enjoys developing relationships with pet owners to help them best care for their pets.

Dr. Stacy DeWall

Dr. Stacy DeWall was born and raised in Oregon. Her love of animals began at a young age when she started to feed and help stray cats in the neighborhood. 4-H was a big part of her childhood, along with showing horses. Being a veterinarian was her childhood dream that came true.

Dr. DeWall attended OSU and WSU for veterinary school, graduating in 2005. She was first employed as a staff veterinarian at the clinic she had worked as kennel help and a veterinary assistant. Dr. DeWall finds Veterinary medicine exciting and challenging!

In 2011, she married her now husband and moved to Harrisburg, OR. They live on a farm where grass seed, wheat, corn, peas and hazelnuts are grown. It’s a busy lifestyle, but very rewarding. Dr. DeWall and her husband have two children, along with 2 cats, 1 dog, a bunch of chickens, and too many horses (according to her husband). In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, playing/teaching/learning with her children, and riding/showing her home-bred horses.

Dr. Tara Whalen

Dr. Whalen was born in Wyoming but raised in the great state of Nevada. There, she obtained her Bachelor's degree at the University of Nevada, Reno. She completed her veterinary degree from Washington State University in 2018 (go Cougs!). After graduation, Dr. Whalen and her husband Mitch were drawn to Eugene because of the many opportunities for outdoor adventures and the lush landscape. Dr. Whalen's adopted pitty Tate accompanies her and her husband on all their adventures while the two cats, The Fuzz and Mr. Scrubs, rule the roost.

While Dr. Whalen enjoys the many facets of general practice, she is particularly interested in behavior, ophthalmology, and keeping our senior pets happy and comfortable.

Dr. Stephen Kairis

Dr. Kairis originally grew up in Portland, OR and came down to Eugene to complete his undergraduate in Biochemistry. After working as a veterinary assistant for several years, he went to Oregon State University for his DVM. Upon graduation, Dr. Kairis moved back down to Eugene to work as an associate veterinarian. He has two cats at home and one mixed breed terrier. When Dr. Kairis isn’t caring for his patients, he enjoys hiking, mountain biking, and paddling in his kayak or stand-up paddle board.
